MEDICAL REHABILITATION

With a view to provide free medical relief to gas victims, a massive medical rehabilitation programme was undertaken in which Rs.226.77 crores have been spent under the Action Plan till 31.3.2003.  This amount has been largely spent on construction, equipping, staffing and providing free medicines and free medical treatment to the gas victims through one super-speciality, two speciality, four general, two polyclinics and fourteen dispensaries.  The total beds strength created in these hospitals is 634. The average daily attendance in the OPD in these medical units is about 3479.  

    The hospitals and the dispensaries established for providing medical relief are as under:-

Dispensaries on  Indian System of Medicine ( Three -Ayurvedic, Three- Unani, and three Homeopathy)

    In addition the Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation Department has made special arrangement for free of cost treatment to the gas affected below poverty line cancer patients in Jawaharlal Nehru Cancer Hospital,  Bhopal.
